Professional CareerDr. Michael S. Goodman graduated from the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery (now renamed “College of Dental Medicine”) in 1973. He was the Class President for his Junior and Senior years. He completed the Mount Sinai Department of Dentistry General Practice Residency Program, where he received advanced, hands-on training in each dental specialty. In addition, he received advanced training in managing patients with bleeding disorders, hemophilia, or taking anticoagulants. He was appointed Clinical Attending Dentist and has remained on staff for over 35 years. Dr. Goodman has been serving on the Medical and Dental faculties since 1975 and is now an Assistant Clinical Professor, lecturing weekly to graduate Dentists in the General Practice Residency program. He is the Clinic Chief on Monday afternoons. In June, 2011, he received the “Best Attending of the Year” award from the Department’s General Practice Residents. Dr. Goodman built a 36-year old practice based on satisfied patient’s word-of-mouth referrals. He sold it in 2010 in order to change the nature of his practice and take advantage of an excellent opportunity near his wife’s medical practice. He is New York State Certified in the use of Conscious Sedation, legally required for the administration of Nitrous Oxide and any other sedative agents. Prior to practicing at 30 Central Park South for 5 years, Dr G practiced for 15 years each at 654 Madison Ave at 60th Street, and at 1414 6th Avenue at 58th Street. Dr. Goodman is a member of American Dental Association and New York County Dental Society, where he has served as the Chairman of the Ethics Department, Chairman of the Publication Committee, and Chairman of the Professional Practice Committee. He is a former member of Academy of Osseo Integration (implants) and American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has published several articles including one about dental emergencies for Dental Survey Magazine and another about bleeding disorders and dental care for National Hemophilia Foundation. He has also served as a consultant to Hemophilia Health Services and lectured at the National Hemophilia Foundation. In 2009, Dr G was inducted into the prestigious New York Academy of Dentistry. Community Service & InterestsIn addition to his dental practice and pro-bono teaching, Dr. Goodman enjoys serving his community. He has been a Suffolk County Volunteer fireman for over 20 years. He is certified in Incident Command and EVOC (New York State certified ambulance and fire truck driver). He was a Commissioner of the Fair Harbor Fire District, as well, for 10 years. Dr. Goodman resides in New York City with his wife Dr. Deborah J. Coady, a prominent gynecologist and pelvic pain specialist, and their two children. He is also an outdoorsman, occasional skier, boater, metal sculptor, AND motorcycle enthusiast. He even took a continuing education course in the form of a 4-day motorcycle ride from Scottsdale, Arizona to the Grand Canyon and back with 12 other dentists. He appeared in a motorcycle documentary on TLC, narrated by Peter Fonda. Dr. Goodman was also interviewed by Dr. Max Gomez on NBC News. |
